Genealogy: Interviewing Family Members

Our elders are fantastic resources for not only family genealogies, but also history in general. For several years my students have interviewed older relatives and neighbors using these questions. Students were amazed at the information their elders had and elders were pleased that younger people wanted to know about their lives. Some students recorded the interviews and were able to watch them again and again. These interviews became treasured to families after the elder passed away. Remember with interviews there is no time like the present!

John Fine Movie

I've revised the movie I made about Congressman John Fine.  Photos of his house, which is located across from the U.S. Post Office on State Street are now included.

Constitution Week

The Ogdensburg City Council has proclaimed September 17-23 as Constitution Week.  The United States Constitution was signed September 17, 1787 and ratified in 1789.  This Constitution was modeled after the New York State Constitution and has been guiding our government for over 200 years.  People in my age group learned the Preamble by watching Saturday morning cartoons.  Schoolhouse Rock videos are still popular today. Let's celebrate our Constitution!
